Cleveland man indicted in case of mom shot in face during morning carjacking

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Cleveland man was indicted Thursday in a pair of early morning attacks on the city’s West Side that left a mother shot in the face and another woman beaten during an attempted robbery.

A Cuyahoga County grand jury returned a 14‑count indictment against Ronald Loftis, 47, accusing him of approaching a woman at a West 25th Street bus stop south of Clark Avenue around 6:40 a.m. on Jan. 2.

Prosecutors said Loftis pointed a gun at the woman and tried to search her pockets. When she resisted and said she had nothing, he fired a shot behind him as a threat, pistol‑whipped her and took her phone before giving it back and fleeing…
