A Columbus man accused of fatally shooting a man inside a boots store had a “violent history” with the victim, city homicide detectives allege in a recently unsealed criminal complaint.
Johnathan Triplett, 29, of the Northeast Side, faces a murder charge in the fatal shooting of Trevon Durham at the ZZ Boots store inside of a shopping plaza on Nov. 17, 2025, on Columbus’ Southeast Side. Triplett was a fugitive until a Columbus police SWAT team arrested him Jan. 7.
Homicide detectives alleged in court documents that on the night of the shooting, Durham, 27, of the East Side, went to store, 2264 Hamilton Road, and that Triplett walked in soon thereafter. Eyewitnesses told detectives that the two men began fighting, according to the complaint…
