GRANDVILLE, Mich. — Despite the snow, community members gathered in Grandville on Saturday afternoon as part of nationwide “ICE Out for Good” protests.
Hundreds of protests took place across the country over the weekend in the wake of the fatal shooting of a woman by a federal immigration officer in Minneapolis and the shooting of two people in Portland, Oregon.
“It’s important, especially in our area, in many areas, that people see they’re not alone, and that the government hears, our elected officials hear, we are not happy with what’s going on,” said Ann Dunlop, a protest organizer and co-chair of West Michigan Indivisible. “… I think it’s important for people to try to understand that and to rally along with the immigrant community, so they know that they are not alone.”…
