Just after 3:50 a.m. on January 7, 2026, Lakeland Police responded to a crash at the 7-Eleven on U.S. Highway 98 North after a vehicle drove straight into the building, shattering multiple glass windows and damaging merchandise inside.
Investigators identified the driver as Livingston Dodard, who was still on scene. Officers reported signs of impairment, including slurred speech, bloodshot watery eyes, confusion, and the odor of alcohol. During field sobriety exercises, multiple indicators of impairment were observed. The driver later refused to complete additional testing and repeatedly interfered with a breath test after being advised of implied consent.
