Logan’s legacy: Lawmakers push justice reform after Woodford County boy’s death

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) — More than a decade after a Woodford County home invasion that took the life of a six-year-old boy, Kentucky lawmakers say they are close to passing legislation aimed at preventing similar outcomes in the future.

State Representative TJ Roberts of Burlington is sponsoring the bill, Logan’s Law, named after Logan Tipton, who was killed inside his Versailles home on Dec. 7, 2015.

“I saw the story of the release of the monster that engaged in those horrific acts against the Tipton family, and it was gut-wrenching. It was devastating, but also it just showed that there was something deeply wrong with our justice system,” Roberts said.

Ronald Exantus was charged with stabbing and killing Logan during the home invasion. A jury ultimately found him not guilty by reason of insanity on the murder charge but convicted him on three assault charges for stabbing members of Logan’s family during the same incident…
