Founding member of The Harlem Quartet joining Mobile Symphony Orchestra for winter performance

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — Violinist Melissa White, who is a founding member of The Harlem Quartet, will join the Mobile Symphony Orchestra in its “Winter Dreams” performances.

The concerts are set for Saturday, Jan. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 18, at 2:30 p.m. at the Mobile Saenger Theatre, and feature Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 1 “Winter Dreams.”

“Hear what happens when we pair Tchaikovsky’s First Symphony with the music of Florence Price,” Scott Speck, MSO’s music director, says. “There’s no question that Price was influenced by Tchaikovsky. With the help of the radiant Melissa White, we explore that connection and celebrate two composers whose music is filled with emotion and depth.”…
