SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — California’s top public health officials declared vaccines as “one of the greatest achievements in modern medicine” Friday in the wake of U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s comments and federal-level changes.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention took an unprecedented step Monday by cutting the number of vaccines it recommends for every child. The CDC now recommends that children only get vaccinated against 11 diseases — down from 17 — and eliminated recommending vaccines against flu, COVID, rotavirus, hepatitis A and B, and other infectious illnesses.
