Animal rescue flight honors Kansas air traffic controller

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wings of Rescue held a commemorative flight on Saturday to honor Zach Scheiman, a Garden City air traffic controller who was killed in Ukraine.

Wings of Rescue is a charity that flies animals from overcrowded shelters to safe havens across the country for adoption.

To honor Scheiman and his love for animals, the organization flew 73 pets from overcrowded shelters in Abilene and Amarillo, Texas, to their new home in Missoula, Montana.

“We are deeply grateful to our generous donors, whose support made this lifesaving flight possible. Because of you, heartbreak was turned into hope, and 73 lives were given the chance Zach so deeply believed every animal deserved,” the organization posted to Facebook…
