WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) – It is a colder but otherwise quiet start to the day. However, that will change soon as the second part of the storm system sweeps across the state. Snow mixed with rain will eventually change to all snow and move west to east across Kansas later today and this evening.
Expect the heaviest snowfall, 3-6” of accumulation across southwest Kansas with lighter amounts farther north and east. While the Wichita area will see less than an inch of snow, wet roads during the afternoon may turn icy after sunset as temps fall below freezing.
Strong and gusty winds from the north will produce blowing snow and low visibility, especially along and west of a Hays to Pratt line this afternoon and evening. While travel will be possible on roads like I-70 and Highway 50, it will be slower than normal…
