A man is arrested by Charleston Police after pointing and discharging a gun during a fight.

Charleston Police arrested Anthony Animas, 50, on Thursday evening following a family argument that escalated to gunfire at MAA Hampton Pointe Apartments on Sam Rittenberg Boulevard.​

Incident Details

Officers responded shortly after 5:30 p.m. to reports of a dispute between family members. Animas displayed a gun, pointed it, and fired one shot without aiming at the victim, according to Sgt. Chris Stinson.​

Charges and Custody

Animas faces charges of pointing and presenting a firearm and discharging a firearm within the city. He is detained at the Al Cannon Detention Center, with no injuries reported.​
