Dunedin City Commission Advances Pier Renovation and Sustainable Initiatives, Approves New Residential Development

The City of Dunedin is diving into an assortment of new projects and approvals, as detailed in a recent social media update from the municipal government. On Thursday, the Dunedin City Commission moved forward with a number of items on their agenda, greenlighting projects from a pier replacement to sewer rehabilitation. The Marina Fishing Pier is to see a makeover from On-Point Contracting Company, LLC, at a cost of $1,742,991.46. The city also took a step toward sustainability, approving the first reading of an ordinance meant to embed a Sustainability Matrix and Sustainable Development Scorecard into the Land Development Code. For those keeping tabs, the next reading is scheduled for February 5.

The residential landscape of Dunedin is set to expand with the Commission’s approval of the first reading of the design review for Azul Ave Vacation Homes, a two-story, 21-unit residential project located at 1380 Pinehurst Rd. This development is also slated for a second review come early February. Further infrastructure improvements were approved in the form of a “piggyback” agreement awarded to Rowland, LLC, which will now be tasked to rehabilitate 24 sanitary sewer manholes for $79,880. Meanwhile, Hydro-Dyne Engineering won the contract for refurbishing the Wastewater Treatment Facility Course & Fine Bar Screens, setting the city back another $144,079.71.

In terms of governance, the City Commission is operating under freshly adopted Rules of Procedure, the details of which are available through a link provided in their social media post.
