Ohio State shuts down residence building for semester due to flooding

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) — An Ohio State University residence hall flooded Saturday morning, leading the university to close it for the semester and to relocate hundreds of students who were soon to return there.

The 762 residents scheduled to live in Taylor Tower were contacted, as well as their emergency contacts, after the building “experienced significant pipe failure,” according to university officials. Due to the damage in the building, particularly to the plumbing and elevator systems, the residence building “will not be a viable housing facility” for the entirety of the spring semester.

The residents have the option to relocate to another available residence building on campus or to be refunded for their semester housing contract. They will also receive a credit to their BuckID and their university account…
