Organizers prepare for annual syrup festival, as various deadlines loom ahead

Vermontville can be a sweet place to be during the last full weekend of April, when the small village in western Eaton County hosts what is considered as the “granddaddy” of maple syrup festivals.

This year’s festival is set for Friday through Sunday, April 24-26, with organizers again expecting as many as 20,000 festival-goers, depending on the weather, to flock to Vermontville.

The weekend festival has traditionally included carnival rides, a talent show, arts and crafts, a flea market, parades, a petting zoo, a princess pageant, various informational displays, games, free entertainment, a pancake derby and even arm wrestling…
