STUART, Fla. (CBS12) — New body camera footage has been released, revealing the details of an arrest involving a man protesting against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Stuart. The footage, made public by the Stuart Police Department, shows the interaction that led to the arrest of Samuel Antonio Rubio-Facio back in October. Rubio-Facio was charged with allegedly battering a law enforcement officer and disorderly conduct during a demonstration that took place outside a Stuart ICE facility.
The release of this video comes at a time when national and local protests have intensified following the recent deadly shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent in Minnesota. While the protest in Stuart initially began peacefully, witnesses say tempers flared once the sun set. Rubio-Facio, who was already on probation at the time of the incident, was taken into custody during the nighttime confrontation.
