Michaela Varys, MD and Ziya Aktig, MD are a married couple of family medicine doctors who have long dreamt of starting their own practice and serving patients outside of the restrictions of a corporate hospital system and the insurance system. At Carytown Direct Primary Care they have created a practice where they can dedicate time to really get to know their patients, understand their unique needs, and work together to develop tailored treatment plans.
We believe that healthcare is best when it’s built on trust, partnership, and a genuine connection. We believe healthcare should be a collaborative discussion, not a rushed appointment, which is why we opened a Direct Primary Care practice – to give patients the time, attention, and partnership they deserve.
Dr. Varys grew up in Pittsburgh, PA and went to medical school in Prague to be closer to her extended family. It was there that she met Ziya. Family, meaningful connections, and long-term relationships are incredibly important to her so it’s no surprise that she was drawn to Family Medicine. She is a double board-certified Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine physician, passionate about empowering patients to lead longer, healthier, and happier lives. Her interests include disease prevention, early detection, chronic disease management and remission through lifestyle changes, and the use of point-of-care ultrasound.
