Virginia au pair affair murder trial to begin Monday

FAIRFAX, Va. (DC News Now) — The trial for a Virginia husband accused of killing his wife and another man as part of a plan engage in a relationship with the family’s au pair is set to begin Monday.

Brendan Banfield is set to face trial in Fairfax County next week for the alleged February 2023 double murder of his wife, Christine Banfield, and a man named Joseph Ryan, who prosecutors allege was lured to their Reston home for sex on a fetish website using a fake profile for Christine.

Police say Ryan was shot and Christine Banfield was stabbed as part of a plan that would allow the family’s au pair, Juliana Peres Magalhaes, and Brendan Banfield to end up together…
