Shooting at Port Allen casino leads to man’s arrest

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office (WBRSO) arrested a man following a shooting in the parking lot of a Port Allen casino Friday night.

According to WBRSO, Jalen Ferguson, 22, is charged with two counts of aggravated second-degree battery after he allegedly shot a woman in the leg around 10 p.m. outside of the Emerald Palace Casino.

Investigators said that before the shooting happened, two women went to a Port Allen home to confront Ferguson. When they arrived, Ferguson and another woman were leaving the home. The women then followed Ferguson to the parking lot of the casino, deputies said.

According to WBRSO, one of the women pepper-sprayed Ferguson, and in response, he took out a gun and shot one of the women in the leg. The other two women were struck by bullet fragments. Two of the women were taken to the hospital for treatment. All injuries reported were not life-threatening…
