The city has rolled out the 2026 Junior Ranger Program schedule, promising a year packed with outdoor adventure and learning opportunities that cater to all ages and skill levels. According to the City of Reno’s recent news release, the initiative invites participants to explore the beautiful parks of Reno and become stewards of the environment while working to earn an official Junior Ranger badge.
For those ready to embark on this green journey, the program boasts two activities per month, taking place in six different parks around the city in rotation, spanning from January through the December of this year. And in a delightful twist this year, eager beavers looking to become Junior Rangers can now access the guide either by snagging a physical copy at any City of Reno’s recreation facility or by conveniently downloading it online – a nifty move that caters to both traditionalists and tech aficionados alike.
With the first event of the program at Idlewild Park kicking off on January 9 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., participants can expect to dive into the world of birding.
