North Carolina middle school principal placed on leave following DWI arrest

HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Cabarrus County Schools principal is out on bond following a DWI-related arrest in Mecklenburg County, court records confirm.

The incident happened around 1:21 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2026. According to Mecklenburg County court records, an officer reported seeing a white SUV cross the center line and commit multiple lane violations while also following a tractor-trailer too closely. The vehicle was described as ‘slow to stop’ once police attempted a traffic stop.

The responding officer noted that Krina Pressley’s (also known as Krina Patel) speech and movements were slow and that she fumbled with one of her documents when pulled over. She reportedly told the officer she ‘had one drink,’ and a light odor of alcohol was detected.

Court records indicate she registered a .14 during a breathalyzer test.
