Man shot in Brentwood after pointing gun at covert officers, Jacksonville sheriff says

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man was shot Sunday night after pointing a gun at covert officers working in the Brentwood area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to an “armed drug complaint” in the area near Main St. N. and 22nd St. E. at around 6:45 p.m., Sheriff T.K. Waters said in a news briefing. Task force officers took over the call, arriving in an unmarked police car to surveil for potential criminal activity.

At approximately 7:18 p.m., JSO said a man walked from behind the vehicle to the front and pointed a gun at the officers. The officers fired their guns at the suspect through the windshield, then got out of the car to pursue him.
