As temperatures drop this weekend, Montgomery is making plans to open a warming center at the Crump Center over two evenings:
- Jan. 11 from 7 p.m. to Jan. 12 at 7 a.m.
- Jan. 12 from 7 p.m. to Jan. 13 at 7 a.m.
Crump Center is at 1751 Cong W L Dickinson Drive. Any residents in need of shelter will be welcome there during these times, a Jan. 9 release from the city stated. However, no pets will be allowed inside the warming center.
According to the National Weather Service, the Montgomery area’s weather will get very chilly. After storms with rain and wind on Jan. 10, it’ll be dry but cold on Jan. 11, with temperatures dropping from a high of 54 to a low of 29. Those temperatures are expected to repeat overnight on Jan. 12.
It’s the policy of Montgomery and the Emergency Management Agency to activate a warming center when temperatures are expected to drop to 32 or below for 4 hours or more.
Bus service to the warming center
People will have to make their own way to the warming center on Jan. 11. Montgomery reports there will be no scheduled bus service that day…
