Deadly Shooting Erupts Near Oakland Coliseum Flea Market

Oakland police are investigating a fatal shooting reported just before noon yesterday in the 5400 block of Coliseum Way, a short walk from the Oakland Coliseum flea market. Officers arrived to find a victim suffering from gunshot wounds, and the person was rushed to a local hospital, where they were later pronounced dead. Investigators say they are still working to determine what led up to the gunfire and have not yet released the victim’s name.

According to the Oakland Police Department, the case remains wide open. The incident was first detailed by KTVU, which reported that officers have not confirmed whether the shooting actually occurred inside the swap meet. Detectives stayed on scene into the afternoon, canvassing the area for witnesses and nearby surveillance cameras that might have captured what happened.
