San Diegans protest ICE outside Otay Mesa Detention Center

(FOX 5/KUSI) — Dozens of San Diegans gathered outside the Otay Mesa Detention Center Sunday and joined forced with a movement being called “ICE Out for Good Weekend of Action.” The group joined other nationwide protests happening in cities including Portland, Salt Lake City and Minneapolis.

The group says behind its core principles is a commitment to nonviolent action. They have been gathering outside the Otay Mesa Detention Center every Sunday because that’s where immigrants have been sent to after being detained by ICE.

“I am here because I believe what government is doing is weaponizing the federal government against the people. They are terrorizing the communities,” said one San Diego resident who wished to not be named…
