Storm Team 3: Warm Saturday before a cool down Sunday

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – After breaking a record high on Friday with a temperature of 78°, surpassing the old record of 77° set in 2008, we’re staying warm again for your Saturday. The day will start with patchy to widespread fog across the region, but once that lifts, we’ll turn partly sunny this afternoon. High temperatures will climb close to 80°, and with today’s record at 81° set back in 1972, we could be tie another record high.

This warmth is ahead of an approaching cold front that moves in this evening and overnight. That front may bring a few isolated showers late tonight into very early Sunday morning, but the bigger story will be the cool down. Temperatures will actually peak early Sunday, then fall through the day as colder air rushes in. Clouds will gradually decrease, but it will turn breezy and much cooler, with highs only reaching the mid 60s early in the day before dropping.

By Sunday night into Monday morning, temperatures fall to around freezing. Monday stays chilly with plenty of sunshine, but highs will run about 10 degrees below average in the lower 50s. We’ll slowly warm back toward seasonal levels by midweek, with highs in the low 60s Tuesday and Wednesday, though mornings will still be cold with lows in the 30s and near freezing…
