To make Wilmington greener, Volunteers gather to plant trees

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY)– On Saturday, Alliance for Cape Fear Trees planted more than 100 native trees alongside Wilmington’s Northside neighborhood.

Planting started at Portia Hines Park at 9 a.m. with many volunteers gathering to dig in and plant trees with the support from the New Hanover County Cooperative Extension Master Gardner Volunteer Association, North Carolina Urban Forest Council, and Residents of Old Wilmington.

The area that the trees were planted by volunteers was chosen as it was a historically under-canopied area…
