Local World War II veteran turns 100 years old

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — A local World War II veteran was honored over the weekend not only for his service but also for turning 100 years old.

Ellis Fish said he never thought he’d see the day where he’d become a centenarian — let alone make it to the year of 2000. Yet, 26 years later, Fish celebrated his 100th birthday with a party Saturday.

Fish served on the B-24 with some friends who, like him, are part of a generation that is disappearing. Because of that, Cabinet Secretary Jameson Herrera said it’s especially important to honor their service…
