NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Art is one of the things that makes New Mexico, New Mexico, and the state recognizes that. This year, the state economic development department granted nine organizations around the state $463,577 to continue their creative endeavors.
The state has been distributing creative industry grants since 2023. But this year, they received more applications than ever before and were able to distribute more money. Really showing that creative industries are growing across the state.
“Its a huge driving force,” said Shani Harvie, New Mexico Creative Industries Division Director. “It’s behind tourism, the cultural economy, and right now, the experience economy is really big. I think New Mexico and creativity is this innate thing. People come here for Balloon Fiesta, artists come here to draw the landscape, and it’s really being able to invest in the economic impact that’s there.”
