Lowcountry counties had high number of 2025 SC human trafficking investigations

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS/WCSC) — The Tri-County ranked toward the top in the number of human trafficking investigations, the state’s Attorney General’s Office said Monday.

Attorney General Alan Wilson released 2025 human trafficking data, revealing that the state investigated more than 315 tips, with most of them potentially involving underage victims.

Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties were among the six South Carolina counties with the most tips logged:

  1. Greenville – 35
  2. Berkeley – 30
  3. Charleston – 30
  4. Richland – 28
  5. Lexington – 27
  6. Dorchester – 21
