2 charged after stealing car and leading officers on chase, Knoxville police say

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Two people are facing charges after leading Knoxville officers on a police chase, according to the Knoxville Police Department.

It happened around 10 p.m. Sunday, according to KPD Communications Manager Scott Erland, when officers responded to the 2200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue. There, Erland said, a 24-year-old man said he was parked when two people took his Honda Accord at gunpoint.

It didn’t take long for officers to track down the car, according to Erland. He said officers spotted it near N. Broadway and Atlantic Avenue and tried to stop it, but the driver didn’t pull over…
