The trial for the final former corrections officer charged in the beating death of inmate Robert Brooks is expected to begin today, with jury selection getting underway in Oneida County Court.
Michael Fisher, a former Marcy Correctional Facility officer, is charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with Brooks’ death. Fisher is the last defendant to face trial in a case that has drawn statewide attention to prison violence and accountability within New York’s correctional system.
