PASCO COUNTY, FL – Walmart is moving closer to bringing drone delivery to several Pasco County stores through its partnership with Wing, a drone delivery company owned by Alphabet. The service is designed to deliver small orders in about 30 minutes to customers who live within roughly six miles of a participating store.
Locally, early filings point to the Walmart Neighborhood Market near Ridge Road and Little Road in New Port Richey as the first Pasco site in line. According to plans shared publicly this week, documents were submitted to Pasco County last Tuesday for a new drone delivery site at that location, with Wing listed as the operator. A construction start date has not been announced.
Walmart’s broader rollout with Wing has been expanding fast, including plans announced for major metro areas such as Orlando and Tampa. Walmart has said Wing operates its aircraft within FAA guidelines and can fly beyond visual line of sight, which is a key piece of scaling the service.
How Wing drone delivery works
In markets where Wing and Walmart are already operating, customers place an order, select drone delivery when eligible, and the drone flies out from the store area and completes the drop without landing.
