LUBBOCK, Texas — Catelyn Pina, 24, was sentenced on Monday morning to five years in prison for an assault charge in connection with the 2021 shooting that took the life of Domingo Siri, 30.
Three killed, two injured in Slaton Sunday night shooting
EverythingLubbock.com previously reported Pina, who was initially accused of murder, took an open plea back in November 2025 for Aggravated Assault causing Serious Bodily Injury. The judge accepted the plea and withheld finding of guilt and sentencing until January.
On September 1, 2021, officers were called to the 1600 block of 28th Street at 1:13 a.m. and found two victims with gunshot wounds. Court records said multiple people, including children, were outside in the driveway when a vehicle passed by and fired shots. Siri was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Cleotis Johnson, 20 at the time, was injured and taken to the hospital.
Man detained for two Lubbock shootings, one hospitalized
Court records stated an hour before the homicide, a man, whose name was redacted, was followed from the 1600 block of 28th Street and shot at as he drove westbound near 5300 46th Street. Court records said shells found at the scene were from the same gun that left shells on 28th Street after the deadly drive-by shooting.
According to court documents, a tip to the Crime Line in 2022 named Pina and her boyfriend at the time, Adam Villarreal, 22, as suspects in the shooting. Lubbock Police located Pina, who admitted to driving Villarreal’s car during the shooting.
