Swoozie’s Reopens in the Plaza at Preston Center

Following its Dallas debut in August 2008, Swoozie’s developed a reputation as a one-stop shop for party goods, gifts, tableware, and monogrammed items in Preston Center. The festively-decorated Preston Center location represented the second for the Atlanta-born brand, founded by Kelly Plank Dworkin. In the years that followed, Preston Hollow neighbors and shoppers from across DFW contributed to Swoozie’s popularity.

As 2024 came to a close, however, Swoozie’s shuttered in both Dallas and Atlanta. These temporary closures followed the company’s sale to Beyond Brands Group in 2020. After four years under the retail management group’s umbrella, this subsequent pause allowed time for interior remodeling and a transition back to the stores’ original ownership. Fast-forward another year, and the boutiques reopened in late 2025.

With Dworkin and her daughter, Ashley O’Donnell, back at the helm, Swoozie’s at Preston Center has returned to the same physical location with a refreshed interior. Highlighted by the brand’s signature shade of pink, the space now includes a party area which can be reserved for club meetings, classes, or game nights. Stations have also been added throughout the store, including rotating displays of decor and gift items grouped by current trend: Western, mahjong, lake living, cocktail mixology. Popular sections of bridal and bachelorette party supplies have returned, as well as curated children’s and baby gifts…
