Memorials placed at Redwood Rd. LDS meetinghouse, Sunday services relocated following fatal shooting

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — On the first Sunday since the fatal shooting in Salt Lake City on Jan. 7, the Redwood Rd. LDS meetinghouse where it happened was quiet.

On Wednesday, police responded to a shooting at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints meetinghouse near 660 N. Redwood Rd. When they arrived on scene, they learned that an altercation broke out in the meetinghouse parking lot while a funeral was being held inside, leading to a shooting that killed two and injured eight others.

ABC4 returned to the meetinghouse and found its parking lot empty on the first Sunday since the shooting.

According to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the Rose Park 5th Ward still held regular Sunday service but at a different location than the Redwood Rd. meetinghouse.

While service was held elsewhere, memorials were found on the grounds of the Redwood Rd. church, seemingly in remembrance of the victims…
