“Sleep tight, don’t let the bedbugs bite”. You’ve probably heard that phrase a ton, though you may not have really considered it an actual warning.
Growing up, I thought bedbugs were some mythical creature parents created to ensure they got a good nights sleep, but unfortunately for us, they’re very real, and very much a problem.
What are Bed Bugs?
Just in case you weren’t aware, yes, these little critters are real and you do not want to encounter them. They are very small insects that feed on blood. Though they choose from a variety of animals for their meals, humans seem to be the primary target.
They earned their name by making their home in mattresses and bedsprings, and feasting on human blood while we sleep. Luckily, they don’t spread disease, but their bites can be nasty, leading to rashes, itching, and other unpleasant symptoms.
