On January 10, 2016, 23-year-old Devante Smiley was fatally shot in the parking lot of George’s Bar on Scott White Road in Hollywood, Charleston County, South Carolina. Another man was wounded in the same incident but survived after being driven to a hospital by a private citizen, while Smiley was taken by EMS and later died from his injuries.
Case Status
No arrests have been made in the decade since the shooting, which remains an unsolved cold case. Charleston County Sheriff’s Office detectives recently renewed public appeals for information around the 10-year anniversary in January 2026.
