Snowfall possible in South Carolina this week

SOUTH CAROLINA — Cold temperatures are expected across South Carolina this week, but the chance for snowfall remains limited, with only a small possibility of flurries in some areas.

Forecasters say a surge of polar air will move southward late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing sharply colder conditions to the Carolinas. In South Carolina’s Upstate, there is a chance that a small amount of moisture late Wednesday night could produce a few flurries. However, no measurable snowfall accumulation is expected in most areas.

Snow chances increase farther north, particularly in the mountains of western North Carolina. Higher elevations north of Asheville could see up to an inch of snow, with some locations closer to the Tennessee border potentially receiving 1 to 3 inches.
