Lexington County considers new zoning rules to protect Lake Murray and promote smart growth

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington County leaders are considering a new zoning district that would change how neighborhoods are built in areas surrounding the Town of Lexington, including parts of the Lake Murray shoreline.

The proposal, called the Central Lexington County Overlay District, would introduce new rules for residential density, open space, tree protection and waterfront development on unincorporated land around the town.
