RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Richland County’s treasurer is advising residents that recent changes by the U.S. Postal Service could affect how quickly mailed tax payments receive a postmark, which may impact whether payments are considered on time.
According to the Treasurer’s Office, new federal rules announced by the USPS in late 2025 change how first-class mail is postmarked.
Instead of being postmarked the day it arrives at a local post office, mail will now be postmarked when it is processed at a regional mail facility. That processing can take one to two days longer, or more during weekends and holidays…
