Of the 19 new building permits approved in Alabama last week for construction projects exceeding $1 million, five of them are for projects here in North Alabama.
The largest of those is for a new Food City grocery store in Athens.

The new 57,000-square-foot retail supermarket, which will create 180 new area jobs, is expected to open in the spring.
