VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A Virginia Beach man has been arrested in North Carolina in connection to the shooting death of a Chesapeake man on Frazier Lane early on New Year’s Day, police said, and now the father of the victim is speaking out.

De’Vion Williams, 19, of Virginia Beach, was taken into custody in North Carolina with the help of U.S. Marshals, according to Virginia Beach Police, who say Williams has been charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
Around 12:31 a.m. Jan. 1, police received a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the 3700 block of Frazier Lane, and when officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. Jeremiah Cuffee, 19, of Chesapeake, was taken to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
What happened during a party in the 3700 block of Frazier Lane remains under investigation. Loved ones say after Cuffee was shot from behind, some tried to save him while others stole from him.
