‘Very bizarre’: Virginia Beach rescue squad returns donation checks delivered a year late

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The Ocean Park Volunteer Rescue Squad is letting the public know about a mail mishap that left more than a dozen donations in limbo for more than a year.

In January, the organization said it finally received a batch of donation checks that had been postmarked in late 2024. Due to the extraordinary delay, the rescue squad made the difficult decision not to deposit the checks, choosing instead to return them to the original donors.
