Police, Mexican army target leaders of La Empresa in Juarez

EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Chihuahua state authorities have requested help from the Mexican military to go after leaders of the gang that ordered three police officers shot last week.

The attack at a Juarez gas station claimed the life of one state officer and left the two others with gunshot wounds last Thursday.

The three officers reportedly were conducting surveillance on a home prior to getting shot.

“They used a large number of people to attack us. We have identified the likely intellectual author of the attack, who is a leader of a criminal gang,” Chihuahua Public Safety Secretary Gilberto Loya said on Monday. “This cowardly attack only strengthens our coordination. Army special forces arrived (on Sunday) to help with intelligence work to dismantle the entire gang operating in Juarez and elsewhere in the state.”…
