New Arkansas prison policy to restrict how inmates receive books starting in February

ARKANSAS, USA — A new policy within the Arkansas prison system will prohibit books, magazines, and other physical media from being sent directly to inmates starting on Feb. 1, according to the Arkansas Department of Corrections (DOC).

Officials hope the ban will keep contraband out of Arkansas prisons. The department’s previous policy allowed print media to be sent directly to inmates from a publisher, bookstore, educational institution, or recognized commercial or charitable outlet.
