Johnson County introduces new patient advocacy line for families to check in on inmates

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. (KCTV) – The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office announced a new initiative Monday, saying it’s a way to increase transparency, safety and proactive care in the county jail.

The way it works is family members dial 913-715-5770 and leave a detailed message with the questions they have about a specific inmate’s health or wellbeing. Twice a day, jail healthcare staff will review the messages and return calls as needed. Not all calls will receive a response.

The line is intended only for non-urgent matters. Anything urgent should go to the Johnson County jail’s main phone line…
