Oklahoma childcare advocates brace for 2026 cuts in funding

TULSA, Okla. – Nationwide, childcare funding is facing federal challenges and possible cutbacks. InOklahoma, a plan is in place for state changes that will happen in 2026, which will impact childcare facilities and families who receive daycare assistance.

Childcare Advocates say Upcoming Changes Mean Hardships

Delawna Brent says her dream was to own a preschool business. Now she owns and operates Lil’ Gurus STEAM Academy in North Tulsa.

“We are the start of these children becoming successful, lifelong learners,” said Brent, who is concerned about upcoming funding changes from the state of Oklahoma.

Upcoming Changes for Oklahoma Child Care Assistance

The Department of Human Services announced two major changes that will impact families and providers who receive childcare subsidies. DHS released these announcements:
