3 Reno High students get jail time after May 2025 vandalism

The punishment wasn’t what the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office wanted for the seven former Reno High students charged with gross misdemeanors after a senior prank turned into a rampage on May 22.

Four avoided any jail time. Two were sentenced to five nights in jail for their part in the vandalism that caused thousands of dollars of damage, including broken windows, trophy cases and TV and graffiti inside and outside the school. One was sentenced to a rehabilitation program after being jailed following a failed drug test.

All seven pleaded guilty to the charges last year to avoid a jury trial and what could have been up to a year in jail for each charge. Under the guilty plea agreement, the former students agreed to community service, fines and a year’s probation…
