WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A Washington, D.C. man admitted in court that he was not acting in self-defense when he killed his girlfriend inside his apartment in 2023.
The United States Attorney for the District of Columbiaannounced that 35-year-old Pernell Sims entered a guilty plea on Jan. 9 to second-degree murder while armed in connection with the death of Tyshida Williams.
Evidence presented throughout the trial revealed that Sims and Williams were dating on July 30, 2023. That day, the couple returned to their apartment in the 4000 block of South Capitol Street, SW, after 7 a.m.; however, Sims became angry about Williams’ cell phone.
