National Grid begins Buffalo smart meter rollout

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) – National Grid announced Tuesday that they will begin installing the controversial new smart meters on Buffalo homes later this month.

The utility expects to install the meters on over 120,000 homes in the Buffalo area during this part of the rollout. Customers should have received information from National Grid to let them know when their meter is expected to be installed.

“This upgrade to modern meters ensures reliability and introduces advanced technology and tools that provides energy use data,” National Grid Regional Director Ken Kujawa said in a statement. “Customers can use this information to make informed decisions about managing their electricity consumptionand ultimately, control energy costs.”…
