Wife of man shot by police in North Carolina says she was informed by aunt

Rebecca Insley said that she didn’t get a call from police after her husband, Derrick Manigault, was shot by police officers Saturday evening at a North Carolina convenience store.

Instead, she got a call in the early hours of Sunday morning, Jan. 11, from Manigault’s aunt, who woke her up to tell her that Manigault had been shot.

“She told me what she had heard from the police officer, and in my confusion and having just woken up, I said, ‘Well, I hope he’s OK. I just heard there was some trouble with the police,’ she said, ‘No, Rebecca, Derrick’s dead.'”…
